Basketball Recap: Chesterfield Comes Up Short

Chesterfield extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-17. They were outmatched by the Andrew Jackson Volunteers and fell 67-38. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Volunteers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-35 on January 2nd.

As for Andrew Jackson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Chesterfield is ranked 248th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Andrew Jackson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bentlee Sturdivant, who went 8-for-9 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Those 16 points gave Sturdivant a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeke Clyburn, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds.

Chesterfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 86-50 loss against Central on the 30th. As for Andrew Jackson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-43 victory against York Prep on the 30th.
