After a string of five wins, Mary Star of the Sea's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 51-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Claremont Wolfpack.

Claremont found their leader in sophomore Jaden Cardenas, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most points Cardenas has posted since back in December of 2024. Jaden Wang was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Mary Star of the Sea's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Claremont, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 10-13 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mary Star of the Sea will welcome St. Genevieve at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Genevieve knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Mary Star of the Sea likes a good challenge. As for Claremont, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Walnut at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Claremont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season.
