Basketball Game Preview: Lafayette Central Catholic Knights vs. Rensselaer Central Bombers

Lafayette Central Catholic has gone 10-0 against Rensselaer Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. After both having extra time off, both will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 8:00 p.m.

Lafayette Central Catholic might have lost, but man, Mikey Stapleton was a machine: he went 8 for 17 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. That's the most boards Stapleton has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Metzger, who posted five points and seven assists.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rensselaer Central). They put the hurt on South Newton with a sharp 68-46 win two weeks ago. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Bombers considering their 29-point performance the match before.

Rensselaer Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Lafayette Central Catholic strolled past Rensselaer Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 59-43. Will Lafayette Central Catholic repeat their success, or does Rensselaer Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
