Recap: Sacred Heart of Jesus Knights vs. Fayette Ware Wildcats

The Sacred Heart of Jesus Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. The contest between Sacred Heart of Jesus and Fayette Ware wasn't particularly close, with Sacred Heart of Jesus falling 69-51. While losing is never fun, Sacred Heart of Jesus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Fayette Ware is ranked 16th).

Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Justin Gaines, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Gaines. A J Morman was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five assists.

Quaylan Hampton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fayette Ware, scoring 17 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Hampton scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Eric Jones, who scored ten points along with four steals.

Sacred Heart of Jesus has fallen quite a ways from their 26-7 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for Fayette Ware, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Sacred Heart of Jesus and Middleton will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Middleton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday. As for Fayette Ware, they will be playing at home against White Station at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
