Game recap: Washington High School Football Team beats Metamora

WASHINGTON, Ill. - After swapping the lead two times, Washington (Ill.) took the lead for the win when Colton Marshall threw a touchdown to Tanner Smith in the third quarter, paving the way for victory over Metamora (Ill.) 35-14.

The score was knotted at 14 heading into the half. The Panthers took the lead indefinitely on a touchdown pass by Marshall to Smith in the third quarter.

With the win Washington extended its winning streak to eight games. Washington defeated Limestone 31-14 last week.

WHS had given up an average of 11.1 points prior to the contest.



The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Redbirds took, 40-0.

In a Mid-Illini game next week Washington (8-0) takes on Canton, and Metamora (4-4) will go up against Limestone also in a Mid-Illini game.
