Volleyball Game Preview: Valor Christian Eagles vs. Mullen Mustangs

Valor Christian has gone a perfect 4-0 against Mullen recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Valor Christian is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Eaglecrest, who was ranked third at the time (Valor Christian was ranked 18th). The Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raptors on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Raptors recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

While Valor Christian ultimately came up short, they really made Eaglecrest work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 28-26, 22-25, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Mullen also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Overland by a score of 3-1.

Mullen couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Overland a tough time in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 30-28, 17-25, 25-18.

Valor Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Mullen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Everything went Valor Christian's way against Mullen in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Valor Christian made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
