Basketball Recap: Calvary Chapel Academy Falls Short of Florida Prep in the Playoffs

Calvary Chapel Academy and Florida Prep squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Calvary Chapel Academy had to settle for second. They came up short against the Florida Prep Falcons, falling 65-40. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 735th, while the Falcons are ranked 362nd).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ephram Welsh, who went 9-for-20 en route to 19 points. That's the most points Welsh has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Sommerfeld, who earned nine points.

Calvary Chapel Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Florida Prep, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
