Recap: Mount Union Trojans vs. Juniata Valley Hornets
The Mount Union Trojans lost against the Juniata Valley Hornets back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Mount Union took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Juniata Valley. Mount Union has not had much luck with Juniata Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Juniata Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Mattas, who scored 12 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Jett Rand, who scored 15 points.
Mount Union's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Juniata Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Union will take on Claysburg-Kimmel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Claysburg-Kimmel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday. Juniata Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Southern Huntingdon County at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th.
