Basketball Recap: Malik Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heritage over Sebastian River

Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-58 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sebastian River Sharks. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sharks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Heritage's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malik Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in points. Joe Cruz was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Sebastian River, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Heritage didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-76 loss against Cocoa Beach on the 29th. As for Sebastian River, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-38 win against Lincoln Park Academy on the 28th.
