Softball Game Preview: Albertville Aggies vs. Decatur Red Raiders

The Albertville Aggies will challenge the Decatur Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Albertville blew Kate Duncan Smith DAR out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Kate Duncan Smith DAR got their revenge. Albertville fell just short of Kate Duncan Smith DAR by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Aggies have suffered since March 29, 2024.

Albertville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Aaron, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another was Karen Balcazar, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Decatur lost 20-1 to Hartselle last Thursday. The Red Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Josey Hendrix made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last eight games.

Albertville has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. Decatur's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Decatur's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Albertville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. It's a different story for Decatur, though, as they've only averaged .203. Will they be able to contain Albertville's hitters?
