Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against KIPP Legacy two weeks ago, Central came back down to earth. The Central Indians had to suffer through a 58-31 loss at the hands of the West Plains Zizzers. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Zizzers are ranked 60th).

West Plains found their leader in freshman Gillian Green, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 18 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Green is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaylee Peterson, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points along with six boards and three steals.

Central has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for West Plains, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
