Basketball Game Preview: Eminence Eels vs. Central Christian Academy Chargers

Eminence is 5-0 against Central Christian Academy since November of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Eminence Eels will take on the Central Christian Academy Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Eminence will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak.

Last Wednesday, everything came up roses for Eminence against Seven Oaks Classical as the team secured a 53-26 win. The Eels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Eminence can attribute much of their success to Sophia Saucerman, who posted 22 points, and Khloee Kirk, who had 21 points. Kirk's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Webb, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Central Christian Academy's strategy against Tabernacle Christian on Thursday. Central Christian Academy was the clear victor by a 45-22 margin over Tabernacle Christian. The Chargers is also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the five matchup they've won by 20+ points or more this season.

Central Christian Academy found their leader in freshman Olivia Mattingly, who went 9 of 18 en route to 25 points and eight rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Mattingly has scored at least a third of Central Christian Academy's points. Melea Rodriguez was another key player, going 5 for 6 on her way to 11 points and three steals.

Eminence's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Central Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Eminence took their victory against Central Christian Academy when the teams last played on Tuesday by a conclusive 46-23. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eminence since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
