Basketball Recap: Douglas County Comes Up Short

If Douglas County was feeling good fresh off their 58-32 takedown of Hardaway on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Douglas County Tigers fell 63-54 to the Gadsden City Titans on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 378th in Georgia, while the Titans are ranked 55th in Alabama).

Douglas County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Gadsden City, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglas County will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on East Coweta at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Gadsden City also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Fairview at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
