While Halstead's win against Hillsboro wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dragons had just enough and edged out the Trojans 9-8. The victory continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won nine in a row.

Onnyka Nedich made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Halstead got a massive performance out of Thea Boese, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Boese has launched this season. Katharine Engel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Halstead lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2025.

The win got Halstead back to even at 4-4. As for Hillsboro, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Halstead beat the Trojans by a score of 11-1 later that day.
