Baseball Recap: Kearney's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Kearney won the last time they faced Lincoln Northeast and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bearcats walked away with a 5-2 win over the Rockets.

The team relied heavily on Kole Throckmorton, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Devin Carrell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Kearney hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Northeast struck out 11 times.

Kearney's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6. As for Lincoln Northeast, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Kearney will take on rival Lincoln High at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Lincoln Northeast is set to face off against their familiar foe Papillion-LaVista South at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rockets 3.3, the Titans 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
