Basketball Recap: Center Hill Mustangs vs. South Panola Tigers
It was a good run, but the Center Hill Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They were outmatched by South Panola on the road and fell 73-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Center Hill has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Center Hill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jairya Rankins. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Center Hill struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Center Hill's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5. As for South Panola, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3.
Center Hill won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Grenada focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday. As for South Panola, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Conquistadors at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Olive Branch will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Tigers are ranked 21st).
