Recap: Warren County Eagles vs. Vance County Vipers
The Warren County Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 56-47 to Vance County. Warren County found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 16 to 5 on offense.
Warren County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Bolton, who scored nine points along with seven assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Henderson, who scored 13 points.
Damion Jones was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 13 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Shamir Sheppard, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Warren County's defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Vance County, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warren County will challenge Northwest Halifax at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Vance County, they will head out on the road to take on Durham School of the Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Durham School of the Arts focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Wednesday.
