Baseball Recap: Valley Vista Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mountain Ridge, Valley Vista was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the West Point Dragons. The victory was some much needed relief for the Monsoon as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Braden Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four matches. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Elias Garza was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-5. Rylie Hanson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Valley Vista's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-10. As for West Point, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11-1 record this season.

Valley Vista will have a chance to go back-to-back against West Point: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
