Basketball Recap: Sa'nya Murray Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Central

Cheraw won the last time they faced Central and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cheraw Braves came out on top against the Central Eagles by a score of 55-44. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Eagles are ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cheraw got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sa'Nya Murray out in front who posted 15 points in addition to six steals and five boards. That's the most steals Murray has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Cherita Burns, who had seven points and 12 steals.

Cheraw has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Central, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheraw will face off against Chesterfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central, they will take on Buford at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Central is facing Buford at the right time seeing as Buford is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
