Volleyball Recap: Poway Takes a Loss

Poway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the La Costa Canyon Mavericks. The Titans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mavericks earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Poway started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-13.

La Costa Canyon can attribute much of their success to Gerrit Van Glabbeek, who had 11 digs and three assists. That's the most digs Van Glabbeek has posted since back in March.

Poway's loss dropped their record down to 18-14. As for La Costa Canyon, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-15.

Coming up, Poway will host Mt. Carmel at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for La Costa Canyon, they will venture away from home to face off against Torrey Pines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
