The Bishop Kenny Crusaders are taking a road trip to challenge the Menendez Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
If Bishop Kenny beats Menendez with 56 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Crusaders beat Rickards on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 56-14. The Crusaders pushed the score to 56-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Raiders cut but never quite recovered from.

Bishop Kenny's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Hawkins, who threw for 272 yards and six touchdowns on perfect 10-for-10 passing. Those 272 passing yards gave Hawkins a new career-high. James Davis III was another key player, picking up 148 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last game, Menendez made sure to put some points up on the board against Westside last Friday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 33-8 margin over the Wolverines. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Wolverines are ranked 399th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop Kenny better keep an eye on Dominick Torchio. He was instrumental in Menendez's win, rushing for 112 yards and two scores. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Tony Evans, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Menendez proved: they limited Westside to a paltry 1.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Bennett Cornelison for the heroic effort on defense: he. Menendez's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.23 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 6.07 on average over their last five games.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Menendez, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Evans, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
The victory made it two in a row for Bishop Kenny and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points over those games. As for Menendez, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Bishop Kenny beat Menendez 17-10 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
