Basketball Game Preview: Oswego Panthers vs. Joliet West Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Oswego Panthers face off against the Joliet West Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday... Oswego knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Joliet West likes a good challenge.

Oswego easily dispatched Plainfield Central on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Oswego fell just short of Oswego East by a score of 58-56 on Saturday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, Joliet West played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Yorkville, falling 71-50. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 436th, while the Foxes are ranked 114th).

Oswego will have to keep a close watch on Gabrielle Gavin and Makayla J Chism, a pair of players who had a big impact on Joliet West's prior game. Gavin posted 21 points, while J Chism put up 16 points. The game was Gavin's third in a row with at least ten points.

Joliet West's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Oswego, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
