Softball Recap: Blanco Comes Up Short

Blanco couldn't beat Brady on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Panthers fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 8-7. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Layla Palmer made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Mattie Smith was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Blanco has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Brady, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 11-9.

While Blanco had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
