Recap: Burlingame Panthers vs. Mills Vikings
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact the Burlingame Panthers proved on Saturday. They walked away with a 50-40 victory over Mills. Given Burlingame's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 466th, while Mills is ranked 1001st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alain Kazarian continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Darien Apke, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Mills still got an impressive performance from Jefriel Bacorro, who scored ten points. Gavin Ma was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Burlingame's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Mills, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Burlingame is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Carlmont at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th. Carlmont will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Mills will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Capuchino at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
