Softball Game Preview: Janesville Parker Vikings vs. Wilmot Panthers

The Janesville Parker Vikings will square off against the Wilmot Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Janesville Parker will be strutting in after a win while Wilmot will be coming in after a loss.

Janesville Parker took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Janesville Craig. That looming 6-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.

Lilly Keller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delaney King, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

Janesville Parker hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Janesville Craig struck out eight times.

Meanwhile, Wilmot was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Waterford. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 22nd.

Payton Biddle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.

Wilmot's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Janesville Parker, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
