Softball Game Preview: Belleview Rattlers vs. Mount Dora Hurricanes

The Belleview Rattlers will challenge the Mount Dora Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Belleview will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Belleview had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Interlachen on Monday. The Rattlers put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 10-2 victory. Considering the Rattlers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ya'Mari Reynolds looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Randi O'Cull and Ally Axe did most of the damage at the plate: O'Cull went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple, while Axe went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Axe has posted since back in March. Kiera Evans was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Belleview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Interlachen only managed four hits.

Meanwhile, Mount Dora came up short against Hagerty on Monday and fell 7-2. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mount Dora saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was RAYA VEDDER, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Belleview's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Mount Dora, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Belleview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mount Dora struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
