Baseball Recap: Franklin Community Comes Up Short

Franklin Community couldn't beat Valparaiso on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Grizzly Cubs fell 10-7 to the Vikings. The Grizzly Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carsten Bland and Landen Basey did some serious damage despite the final result: Bland went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run, while Basey went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Bland is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Franklin Community's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Valparaiso, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

Coming up, Franklin Community will face off against Whiteland at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Valparaiso, they are taking a road trip to take on Portage at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
