Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Rams vs. Vandalia Vandals
Mt. Vernon scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Vandalia Vandals as the Mt. Vernon Rams made off with a 19-9 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Mt. Vernon got a massive performance out of Arwyn Wilkey, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Paige Watson was another key contributor, going 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI.
Mt. Vernon now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Vandalia, they haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Marion at 4:30 p.m. Marion is coming into the matchup with five straight wins at home, so Mt. Vernon will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Vandalia, they will head out on the road to face off against Greenville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
