Football Recap: Jones Takes a Loss

Jones fell victim to Orange Grove and their airtight defense on Friday. They had to suffer through a 41-0 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Trojans' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row dating back to last season.

Tyler Lang threw for 126 yards on nine of 16 attempts. Davyn Perez was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards. On the ground, Gavin Garza rushed for 61 yards.

Orange Grove was led to victory by Linden Rodriguez and Daniel Bahn. Rodriguez threw for 222 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, while Bahn gained 138 total yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Rodriguez a new career-high in passer rating (165.2).

Jones' loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Orange Grove, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jones will square off against Ingleside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Orange Grove, they will challenge Falfurrias at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
