Preview: Okeene Whippets vs. Yale Bulldogs
The Okeene Whippets will face off against the Yale Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Okeene knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Yale likes a good challenge.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Okeene walked away with it. They walked away with a 46-36 victory over Laverne on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Meanwhile, Yale had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past Keota 52-30. Considering Yale has won six matchups by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Yale's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cornelius Prather, who threw for 221 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Elliott, who picked up 144 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 9-3.
