Football Recap: Goleman Gators vs. Spanish River Sharks

With a playoff win on the line, Goleman rose to the challenge on Friday. They strolled past the Spanish River Sharks with points to spare, taking the game 56-42. Winning may never get old, but the Gators sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

A big part of Goleman's win came down to the chemistry between Timothy Potts and his top target Adrian Atoa. Potts threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns while Atoa picked up 165 receiving yards and a pair of scores. That's the most passing touchdowns Potts has posted since back in September. KJ Belamour Jr. was in the mix as well, providing Goleman with two TDs.

Goleman didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Spanish River to a completion percentage of just 46.5%. The Gators weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 70.6%.

Goleman didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Darryl Bell III and Franckly Desir. Bell III got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Spanish River's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaeden Phillips, who threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns. The Sharks' leading receiver Jayden Elder was Phillips' top target yet again, picking up 134 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Goleman's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Spanish River, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Goleman has already played their next contest, a 65-41 loss against Palmetto on the 28th. Spanish River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
