Even if things were shuffled around here and there, the power rankings for this week won't seem too unfamiliar if you've been following along. Don't let that fool you into thinking nothing interesting happened, though. We'll tackle all that (plus a new number one team) in this week's report.
No Stoppin 'Em
The Soldotna offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It put the hurt on Kenai Central with a conclusive 72 - 24 victory. Soldotna's margin of victory (48 points) marked the biggest win the team has had all season. The combined 96 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
Can't Touch This
Given its edge in the MaxPreps state rankings, a win looked likely for Bartlett in its matchup against Juneau-Douglas/Thunder Mountain. The team got that and then some. Everything went Bartlett's way against Juneau-Douglas/Thunder Mountain as it secured a 65 - 12 victory. Bartlett especially relied on senior Elijah Lear, who ran for 137 yards and also punched in two touchdowns, and senior Hunter Cargill, who rushed for 135 yards and scored on one reception. Lear's performance stood out as one of the best in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between East (1st in the power rankings) and Service (9th). East scooted by Service with a score of 42 - 27. The win raised East up one spot in the power rankings.
