The Pine Prairie Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Avoyelles Charter Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Prairie's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Avoyelles Charter's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Pine Prairie made up a huge gap compared to their last game against St. Mary, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 9-1 victory on Monday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matches by six runs or more this season.
Kynnedi Ware spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 22 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ella Fontenot was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Aguillard, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Avoyelles Charter came up short against Montgomery on Thursday, falling 17-9. The Vikings have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Olivia Desselle led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ellie Riche, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Pine Prairie has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 22 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Avoyelles Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-16.
Pine Prairie took their victory against Avoyelles Charter in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
