Basketball Recap: University Phoenix vs. West Orange Mountaineers

University got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They strolled past the West Orange Mountaineers with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 68-54. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Phoenix's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Mountaineers are ranked tenth).

Anaya Karriem and Rhyan Watt certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Karriem dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Watt posted 18 points and five steals. Karriem has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more boards the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyley Gary-Grayson, who scored four points and six assists.
