Preview: Haltom Buffalos vs. Grand Prairie Gophers
The Haltom Buffalos will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Grand Prairie Gophers at 7:30 p.m. Haltom will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
On Friday, Haltom came up short against South Grand Prairie and fell 56-49. While losing is never fun, Haltom can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while South Grand Prairie is ranked 19th).
Despite their defeat, Haltom saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kuol Atak, who scored 19 points along with five blocks and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 38.8% of Haltom's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Baron Smith jr, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Grand Prairie didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sam Houston on Friday, but they still walked away with a 54-50 win.
Haltom's defeat dropped their record down to 21-10. As for Grand Prairie, their win bumped their record up to 18-16.
Haltom couldn't quite finish off Grand Prairie when the teams last played back in January and fell 54-51. Will Haltom have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
