LAVERGNE, Tenn. - A big 42-point second quarter helped carry the Patriots to a 58-7 victory over LaVergne (Tenn.) on Saturday.
Oakland scored on a
Rhett Stacey touchdown pass to
Kyle Oliver, a touchdown run by
Josh Cunningham, an
Emmanuel Smith touchdown run, a touchdown run, a touchdown pass by Cunningham to Stacey and a defensive touchdown in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Darryle Hood, Jr in the first quarter, OHS led 49-0 at the half.
With the win the Murfreesboro school extended its winning streak to eight games. Oakland defeated Baylor 31-7 last week.
Cunningham played well for the Patriots in the victory. He threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.
LaVergne's lone touchdown came on a 29-yard run in the third quarter.
Oakland went into the matchup giving up only 11.7 points per game.
The victory will ease some of the sting of Oakland's close 24-21 loss to the Wolverines last season.
