Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Decatur's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Decatur posted their closest victory since March 24th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Enumclaw Hornets 6-4. This was a revenge game for the Golden Gators: when they faced off against the Hornets on Monday, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Ethan Flavel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Eric Havili was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cervantes (CJ) Gatterson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Decatur has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 13-1-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Enumclaw, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3.

Decatur wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-2 victory against Auburn Mountainview on the 25th. As for Enumclaw, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-0 win against Beamer on the 25th.
