Softball Recap: St. Mary Catholic Finds Home Field Redemption Against Shiocton

There's no place like home for St. Mary Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Shiocton Chiefs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Zephyrs have posted since April 27, 2024.

Gabrielle Guerrero spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, St. Mary Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sammi Weis, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Weis also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

St. Mary Catholic's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3.

Coming up, St. Mary Catholic will host Hilbert at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shiocton, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Omro at 4:30 p.m. on the 21st.
