Carlsbad waltzed into their contest on Thursday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. Everything went their way against the Del Norte Nighthawks as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in March.

While Carlsbad won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 28-26, 25-19.

Roman Payne paced Carlsbad's offense, picking up 11 kills. Payne got some help from Ben Sauerwine and his 26 assists. Charlie Salmon controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Carlsbad's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 30-2. As for Del Norte, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-16.

Coincidentally, Carlsbad and Del Norte will both be playing La Costa Canyon the next time they take the court. The Nighthawks will host the Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Lancers will head out to face them at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
