Recap: East vs. Boardman Spartans
East lost against the Boardman Spartans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. East had to suffer through a rough 52-17 loss at the hands of Boardman. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East in their matchups with Boardman: they've now lost eight in a row.
Mackenzie Riccitelli was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and six steals for Boardman. Riccitelli is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Ava Freeborough was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven assists and three steals.
East's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for Boardman, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.
East will look to defend their home court on Monday against Ursuline at 6:15 p.m. As for Boardman, they will head out on the road to square off against Harding at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Harding will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Boardman is ranked 47th).
