Softball Recap: Avon Lake Takes a Loss

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Avon Lake was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They lost 8-1 to the North Ridgeville Rangers. The Shoremen were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rangers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Avon Lake saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Briana Webster, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Avon Lake and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for North Ridgeville, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Avon Lake is set to challenge their familiar foe Avon at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, North Ridgeville will square off against rival Steele at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rangers 3.9, the Comets 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
