Baseball Game Preview: Hudson Raiders vs. Hill-Murray Pioneers

The Hudson Raiders will take on the Hill-Murray Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Thursday, Hudson didn't have quite enough to beat Chippewa Falls and fell 9-8.

Hudson got a good showing from Myles Howe, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Howe has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Sam Manchester stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Logan Hagman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles.

Meanwhile, Hill-Murray lost a heartbreaker to Two Rivers when they met back in April of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. The Pioneers took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Pioneers' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Hill-Murray's loss dropped their record down to 6-2-1. As for Hudson, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.
