Basketball Game Preview: Whitehall Vikings vs. Reeths-Puffer Rockets

The Whitehall Vikings will square off against the Reeths-Puffer Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Reeths-Puffer is hoping to do what Oakridge couldn't on Friday: put an end to Whitehall's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Whitehall rang in the new year with a 63-51 victory over Oakridge. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Eagles are ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Camden Thompson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. His evening made it 17 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Brock Morningstar was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Reeths-Puffer was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 68-63 to Traverse City West.

Whitehall pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Reeths-Puffer, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Whitehall came up short against Reeths-Puffer in their previous meeting back in February of 2021, falling 72-67. Can Whitehall avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
