Baseball Recap: Bagdad Wins Going Away Against Globe

Bagdad had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Globe on Friday. The Bagdad Sultans put the hurt on the Globe Tigers with a sharp 17-2 win. The Sultans have beaten the Tigers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Bagdad let Bubba Myers and Destry Owings run wild. Myers went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Owings went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those three runs gave Myers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Landers, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Bagdad always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Globe only posted an OBP of .400.

Bagdad's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Globe, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bagdad will square off against Salome at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give Bagdad their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Globe, they will face off against Safford at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Safford will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Globe surely won't give up without a fight.
