Basketball Recap: Ignacio Comes Up Short

Ignacio extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-7. They were outmatched by the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers and fell 80-25. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bobcats have suffered since December 20, 2025.

Trace Crane was Ignacio's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Crane also led the team in rebounds with seven.

As for Montezuma-Cortez, the win keeps them at an undefeated 15-0. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Montezuma-Cortez's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Hall, who went 5-for-9 en route to 16 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Hall is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Oliver, who made all 6 shots he took to post 16 points.

Ignacio wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 46-43 defeat against Alamosa on the 30th. As for Montezuma-Cortez, they have also already played their next matchup, a 63-30 win against Monte Vista on the 30th.
