Softball Recap: Haven's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Haven had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Hillsboro Trojans as they made off with a 15-2 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 on Thursday.

Avery Brawner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Morgan O'Neal was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Sophia Faidley, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Haven kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Haven pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hillsboro, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Coincidentally, Haven and Hillsboro will both be playing Halstead the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Trojans will host them at 4:00 p.m. on the 17th.
