Football Recap: Cypress' Higher State Rank on Full Display on Wednesday

Sonora typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Cypress proved too difficult a challenge. They took down the Raiders 24-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Centurions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Raiders are ranked 182nd).

The victory made it two in a row for Cypress and bumps their season record up to 12-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 18 points in those games. As for Sonora, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-5.

Looking ahead, Cypress will be taking part in a tournament against Edison at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers' defense has only allowed 9.7 points per game this season, so the Centurions' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Sonora, they will square off against Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
