Birmingham and El Camino Real are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Patriots will host the Royals at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Birmingham took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Chavez. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Annabella Venegas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Birmingham's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bella Gonzalez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Gonzalez has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another was Jasmine Martinez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
El Camino Real came out on top against Taft on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Royals put the hurt on the Toreadors with a sharp 16-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Audrina Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Gonzalez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Remy Glassman looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Sarah Delgado was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Senia Gutierrez, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
El Camino Real kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
El Camino Real has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Birmingham, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Birmingham beat El Camino Real 5-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
