Softball Game Preview: Ringgold Redskins vs. Plain Dealing Lions

The Ringgold Redskins are taking a road trip to face off against the Plain Dealing Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Ringgold made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bossier, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Ringgold's pitcher stepped up to hand Bossier a 12-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Jayla Joyner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (one). She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Ringgold got a big performance out of Jolynn Hall, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Lily Plunkett also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Ringgold was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .314 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Plain Dealing waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 15-0 win.

Ringgold has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. Plain Dealing's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-8.

Everything went Ringgold's way against Plain Dealing in their previous meeting last Tuesday, as Ringgold made off with a 15-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ringgold since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
