Hughson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Orestimba a 23-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Huskies have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryce McDaniel was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Lawson Aviles and Carlos Guizar did most of the damage at the plate: Aviles got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI, while Guizar went 3-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Guizar has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Karsen Moore, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Hughson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orestimba only posted a batting average of .118.

Meanwhile, Sonora lost 10-3 to Ripon on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.

Sonora saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tommy Sutton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Hughson pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sonora, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Hughson took their victory against Sonora when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0. Will Hughson repeat their success, or does Sonora has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
